GeoMob user manual

GeoMob delivers smart content streams on to maps. GeoMob is store front for location based content streams called geo channels. Mobile users can select the geo channels and access whenever and wherever they want it. GeoMob provides the users the options to search and filter the content with in the geo channel, in addition to the timeline feature that displays the content on historical basis.

Through GeoMob, users can configure the appropriate geo channels for their prominent places where they likely to spend most of their time. GeoMob currently includes geo channels such as events, weather, news, business reviews, geo tracks, bathroom directories etc.

GeoMob application can be launched by clicking on the GeoMob application icon. To exit the GeoMob application, use the back button on G1 from GeoMob home screen.

Key elements of GeoMob:

Geo Channels:

Basically a location rich content stream that will be rendered on to the map. Currently all geo channels are free.

Current Geo Channel:

Current geo channel label will be displayed at the right top of the screen. The content provider's logo will be displayed right underneath the geo channel label.

Scrollable Geo Channel strip:

Geo channel strip will hold the geo channels that user has subscribed to, so that specific geo channel can be accessed easily from the channel strip. User can add as many geo channels as he or she may wants to. The channel strip will display first three geo channels; user can scroll through the geo channel strip to access the other geo channels in the channel strip.

Add/Remove Geo Channels:

User can add or remove the geo channel from the channel strip by clicking on the + symbol on the geo channel screen. User can add the geo channel by checking the geo channel from the More Geo channels screen. User can remove the geo channel from the channel strip by un-checking the geo channel from the list.

List View button:

Specific geo channel screen will display the List view button at the right bottom of the screen. User can see the results/POIs in the list view by clicking on the List view button.

Time wrap:

Specific geo channel will have an option to see the content with in the time range. User can see the content with in the time boundary by choosing the time range using the time wrap controller.

Find the geo channel content at a specific location: User can rapidly tap twice on the map where he or she wants to find the content with in the geo channel

Search:

Specific geo channel will have an option to search with in that geo channel. User can search the content with in the geo channel by typing the keyword with in the search box.

Filters:

Specific geo channels will have an option to filter the content. User can filter the content with in the geo channel by choosing the filters for the specific geo channel using the filters menu icon.

Rate It:

User can rate the geo channel. The ratings of channel will be displayed when user accesses the geo channel list.

Flash Tips:

GeoMob will display the flash tips whenever a geo channel is launched.

Places

Places are user defined geographical boundaries where user most likely going to visit for certain activities. Places are also called as neighborhoods. Each geographical boundary is treated as a neighborhood.

My Places:

All the places that user has created. User can either create a neighborhood or join in an existing neighborhood. For now, any one can join in any neighborhood.

Neighborhood Services:

Neighborhood services are geo channels for the specific neighborhood. User may choose to have certain neighborhood services with in a neighborhood. For example, user may have neighborhood services such as coffee, nBay, restaurants in neighborhood called 'My Work' and same user may have restaurants, shopping in a neighborhood called 'My Home'. User can overlay multiple neighborhood services with in a neighborhood. User can also hide neighborhood services channel markers on the map by de-selecting the neighborhood service channel from scrollable geo channel strip.

Create a new place:

User can create a new neighborhood through clicking on 'Create' menu item. User can provide the basic neighborhood details and can select the location where he or she wants to create the new neighborhood/place. While creating the neighborhood user can move the location on the map by dragging the pushpin and can increase the neighborhood range by dragging the neighborhood circle.

Add/Remove neighborhood services:

User can add or remove neighborhood services by clicking on + button just below the scrollable geo channel strip on neighborhoods screen.

Increase neighborhood range:

User can increase the neighborhood range for the specific neighborhood service by using 'mile slider' on the bottom of the neighborhoods screen.

Change location:

User can opt to retrieve the current location or can enter the location by city or zip code from the 'change location' menu item from the screen.

Map Mode:

User can switch the map mode between normal map mode and satellite mode using the Map Mode menu item from the GeoMob home screen.

Profile:

User can update the profile, status, photo and other settings from the Profile menu item from the GeoMob home screen.

Privacy Policy & Terms of Service:

User can access the Privacy Policy and Terms of service from the 'Privacy & Terms' menu item on the screen.

About:

About will display the current version of Geo Mob application, user can access this information from the About menu item from the GeoMob home screen.
